About Me

Hi, I am Elizabeth Lipiec Zerbst, but my friends and family call me Betty. I grew up on a dairy farm in the town of Danube, in New York State. I was never lonely because I have five brothers and two sisters. I graduated in 1968 from Little Falls High School. My husband Fred and I live at “Cozy Acres”, our forty-nine acre hobby farm in the town of Stratford. Fred and I have four adult children (two each) and nine grandchildren between us.

I have always loved animals and have quite a collection of pets here at “Cozy Acres”. They include two paint horses, four German shepherds, goats, sheep, cats, rabbits, ducks, hamsters and a turtle. This could be one reason the grandchildren love to spend weekends at our house.

I have become a faithful blood-donor, and have donated more than eleven gallons of blood over the past fifteen years…one pint at a time. I do this to honor the memory of my dear mother, who we lost to cancer in 1992.

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, and drawing animals since I was old enough to hold a crayon in my hand as a toddler. It only seemed natural for me to write and illustrate children’s books, and put my years of poetry into published collections as well. I truly believe that reading is important for all ages, and reading to a child can create lasting memories that can be cherished for a lifetime.
